If you haven't been assigned a url, userid and password, you can still use the following instructions to share files on baldock.ca.

Download

  • To download publicly posted files at baldock.ca, click here .

When asked for a password, please enter your email address
A right click will give you download options such as save or copy.

  • For file transfer of private documents, a URL, userid and password are assigned by prior arrangement.

Upload

  • If you merely want to occasionally send us a file that is too large for an email attachment (up to 1 gigabyte!), use this handy YouSendIt  first. (Dropload is an alternate service with a100 megabyte limit). With either service you'll upload the file to a server which emails us with a download link that lasts a few days. All file transfers are secure. For multiple files, compress them into a single archive file. IZarc is a free utility for compressing and uncompressing files in many archive formats. IZarc is much more versatile than WinZip.

  • Although savvy browser users can upload file(s) directly to baldock.ca with a browser using certain settings, it is really more productive to use an FTP client instead. FTP clients also handle folders and multiple files with ease. See the following section for further guidance.

Using an FTP client application

A highly recommended FTP application is SmartFTP.  It is both powerful and intuitive to easily exchange folders and files. It is free for personal use. Other common free FTP clients are: FTP Explorer and WS_FTP LE. Macintosh users should use Fetch which automatically encodes files as it uploads.
